Another painting created from a sketch in my Norfolk sketchbook, this time from April 2000. That's one of the great things about sketchbooks, the material is timeless. It measures 28cm x 48cm (11"x 19") and was painted in oil on canvas paper. The original sketch was a watercolour. Post published by Tomas King 26 - 04 - 2016
This oil image, 'Fair Weather Clouds on Fallow Fields' was developed from a watercolour sketch in a sketchbook done in 1999. I decided to use it as the basis for a painting demonstration at a recent class to illustrate how to use sketchbooks and how to translate from one medium to another. The painting was two thirds complete at the demonstration and I liked it so much I decided to finish it later. Fair Weather Clouds on Fallow Fields, oil on canvas board. 30cm x 41cm (12"x 16") Post published by Tomas King 9th April 2016

FROM THE BOOKROOM
Reference is made in my posts to books from my collection which I have been putting together for thirty five years. Though it is not great in size many of the publications are long out of print. I also have an extensive collection of cuttings from newspapers and magazines on a wide range of subjects.
A SELECTION OF PAST EXHIBITION INVITATIONS
The Fantasia Collection is a complete contrast to my normal painting style crossing the barrier between fine art and design. Each subject begins as a random series of free-style thumbnail drawings created more from the sub conscience than the conscience mind. They reflect my love of pattern and colour and are limited only by the boundaries of the mind. The Fantasia images are available as limited edition Giclee Prints. For further information regarding sizes and prices follow the link to Studio Tomas King shop.
A process for making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing with fade resistant archival inks. The word giclee is an invented word derived from the French language word 'le gicleur' meaning nozzle, or more specifically 'gicler' meaning 'to squirt, spurt or spray'.
